Turkey Creek Metropark
ABOUT
Turkey Creek Metropark spans 602 acres along Thompson Road and Lake Road in Conneaut, forming the easternmost portion of Ohio’s Lake Erie shoreline. The preserve includes 225 acres of forested wetlands, three miles of Turkey Creek, and nearly one mile of undeveloped Lake Erie shoreline. It supports rare and state-threatened species and is known for exceptional trout fishing. Surveys have documented nearly 400 native plant and animal species, including nesting migratory birds and newly recorded moth species.
Currently, the park is largely inaccessible by Ohio roads, though it can be reached from Pennsylvania’s Lakeview Road by parking in PA and walking in. Plans are underway to establish a public access road and create a Lake Erie overlook, which will improve visitor access while preserving the site’s natural character.
