Lampson Reservoir Metropark
ABOUT
Lampson Reservoir Metropark spans approximately 162 acres, including a 22-acre reservoir, located just east of SR 45 on SR 307 in Jefferson, Ohio. The reservoir, established in 1906, originally served as the water source for Jefferson Village. Acquired in two phases—an initial 93-acre site in 2007 and an additional 70 acres with a conservation easement in 2016—the park features diverse habitats including wetlands, mixed woodland, and riparian zones adjacent to Mill Creek.
Mill Creek bounds the park to the north and west, flowing into the Grand River. Upstream lies the scenic Doyle Road Covered Bridge. A proposed dam removal, in collaboration with OEPA and The Nature Conservancy, aims to improve water quality and ecological health along Mill Creek. A recent engineering study confirmed that the Lampson Reservoir dam requires repairs, which are scheduled to take place in the near future.
