Friends of Conneaut Creek Metropark

ABOUT

Friends of Conneaut Creek Metropark is a scenic 80-acre preserve nestled along Conneaut Creek—an Ohio-designated Wild and Scenic River. Acquired in 2007 with OPWC grant funds, the park features 3,500 feet of creek frontage and a diverse mix of habitats, including 34 acres of high-quality riparian wetlands, 20 acres of upland mixed woodland, and 16 acres of cultivated meadow transitioning toward successional forest. Visitors can also explore the foundation remnants of the pre-1800 Blakeslee homestead site.

Thanks to the Ashtabula Civic Development Corporation’s 2015 Placemaking Grant, the park includes a paved ADA-accessible loop trail, benches, and a kiosk. A Butterfly and Pollinator Garden is also maintained on site, offering a beautiful stop for nature lovers and photographers alike. Recent improvements include the completion of a new boardwalk along the bottom loop trail, as well as the addition of a mowed path to complement the paved trail—providing visitors with more ways to experience the wetlands and wildlife of this unique park.
