North Shore Trail

ABOUT

The North Shore Trail is a 5.2-mile segment of the Western Reserve Greenway, completed in 2021. This mixed-use asphalt trail is designed for both pedestrians and cyclists, serving as the northernmost portion of the Greenway. It begins at Morrison Station on West Avenue and extends north to Walnut Beach on Lake Erie, marking the northern terminus of the Great Ohio Lake-to-River Greenway.

Ashtabula County Metroparks spearheaded the design and funding efforts, working closely with ODNR and ODOT. The Ashtabula County Civic Development Corporation provided significant support with local matching funds for land acquisition and planning. The trail strengthens non-vehicular connections across the City of Ashtabula, linking residential neighborhoods, employment centers, the Harbor Historic District, downtown services, parks, marinas, museums, Walnut Beach Park, the Bascule Lift Bridge, and the Ashtabula Lighthouse.
