Hatches Corners Metropark is located at 5467 Center Road, Rt. 7, Monroe Twp. An additional parking lot has been added at 5558 Hatches Corners Rd. in order to access the northern portion of the property.
North parking lot, wood- chip trail, kiosk, and boardwalk crossings were funded by the Ashtabula Civic Development Corporation through their 2015 Placemaking Grant. Many thanks to the Ohio Horseman’s Council of Ashtabula for their volunteer & trailblazing efforts.
Acquired with OPWC grant funds in 2007 this 202 acres features 7,274 feet frontage of the Bear Creek tributary to Conneaut Creek, 34 acres of riparian wetland, 78 acres of wooded upland, cultivated/successional area to establish a 90 acre meadow. The property hosts many Ohio listed plants.
Parking is installed with primitive trails established. A multi purpose trail for hiking, birding and horseback riding off of Rt 7 was installed in 2017.
Hunting has been permitted to help maintain a healthy deer population.
There is a power line easement at the western boundary and the future installation of 20,000 feet of trails and improvements off of Hatches Corners Road will provide further opportunities for birding, bridle trail, education, hiking, and photography.
